Project Overview
A new 25 MW IT greenfield data center in Frankfurt, designed to support high-density liquid-cooled IT infrastructure while ensuring resilient mission-critical operations. EDS delivered comprehensive multi-disciplinary engineering services from concept design through building permit submission under HOAI Leistungsphasen 1–4, covering the complete electrical and low-voltage infrastructure — MV utility intake, UPS and standby power, LV distribution and lighting — together with ICT, security, fire detection and alarm systems, BOS communications, and an integrated BMS for centralised monitoring and control of electrical, mechanical and building systems. The electrical and control architecture was built around a 2N ("two-catcher") redundancy philosophy, providing two fully independent power paths to all critical IT loads. Particular emphasis was placed on integrating the requirements of high-density liquid cooling with the electrical distribution, life-safety systems, emergency shutdown strategy and authority compliance interfaces, with all disciplines coordinated into a single permit package for the Frankfurt building authorities.
